Eagle Creek Academy's students adore art, music & gym classes.
Grade 3: The Tree of Life
Students learned about the artist Gustav Klimt and studied his famous painting The Tree of Life. Students used their painting skills and talent to create their own version inspired by Klimt's masterpiece.
Grade 4: 3-D Project
Students worked on a three-dimensional project using polymer clay. They concentrated on sculpting their snowman ornament with careful craftsmanship and skill.
Grades 5: Mexican Adobe Houses
Students learned about the architecture of Mexican Adobe houses and used chalk pastels to create their own masterpieces.
Middle School: Scholastic Book Fair
Middle school students worked collaboratively to create posters for the Scholastic Book Fair. Their designs were used to promote the event.
Kindergarten: Funny Faces
Students work hard at creating funny face pumpkins with personality. Students created a secondary color pumpkin by mixing primary colors and used cut paper to create the faces.
Grade 2: Dia de los Muertos
Students learned the history and culture behind the Mexican celebration Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Then, they created sugar skull masterpieces honoring the celebration using paint and brightly colored crayons.
Middle School: Shape, Form & Space
Students practiced drawing realistic pumpkins using their knowledge of shape, form and space, then continued their skills by producing a color rendering with value in chalk pastels.
Grades 1 & 2: Drawing People in Action
The first and second grade students worked on incorporating movement into their artwork. Students split into small groups, practiced different action poses, and posed for each other. As each partner drew, in order to make his figure look as if it was moving, he added movement lines. We practiced using different lines to show what was moving, and in which direction. Later, the students made up stories about their figures going places.
Grades 2 & 3: Floor Hockey
The students enjoyed playing a friendly game of floor hockey with the equipment donated by the Detroit Red Wings Foundation. They learned about the equipment, the safety rules, and the different strategies of the game.
Grades 4 & 5: Capture the Flag
Students are playing a game of Capture the Flag. The object of the game is to capture the opposite team's flag, or in this case a rubber chicken. Through this fun game, students learn about teamwork, practice their offensive and defensive strategies, and develop coordination.
Kindergarten: Basketball with a Twist
The students enjoyed a game called Backpack Basketball. Six students carried net basket bags of different colors, and all other students had to throw the colored sponge balls in the matching baskets. It's our new favorite game!
Middle school: Volleyball
Students learn to bump, set and spike, as well as how to rotate in and out, during competitive games of volleyball.
Kindergarten: Pumpkin Fun
Students are celebrating Halloween in music class by playing a game called "Five Little Pumpkins".
Grade 4: Nutcracker
Students practiced for the holiday concert by playing the drums, woodblocks, cymbals and triangles to the March from the Nutcracker ballet.
Grades 2 & 3: Winter Wonderland
Students learned the lyrics to the song Walking in a Winter Wonderland. Later, they performed for their families at our Holiday Show.
Grades 5 to 8: Making Instruments
The 5th to 8th graders made wind, string and percussion instruments from empty boxes and bottles.
