Eagle Creek Academy's students adore art, music & gym classes.
Grades 5 to 8: Acrylic Paints
First, each student chose a photo to work from. Then, we learned how to use grid drawing techniques to transfer their drawings onto 11" x 14" canvas boards. Next, we learned about acrylic paints and practiced using them effectively. Finally, we painted on our boards, and came up with beautiful picture like the one above. Students discovered that even independent, creative art can require planning and practice.
Middle school: Volleyball
Students learn to bump, set and spike, as well as how to rotate in and out, during competitive games of volleyball in Mrs. Manoogian's physical education class.
Grade 1: Studying Line
In Art class, first grade students have been studying Line as one of the elements of good art. After drawing different kinds of line students used bright watercolors to paint their drawings.
Grades 1 & 2: Drawing People in Action
The first and second grade students worked on incorporating movement into their artwork. Students split into small groups, practiced different action poses, and posed for each other. As each partner drew, in order to make his figure look as if it was moving, he added movement lines. We practiced using different lines to show what was moving, and in which direction. Later, the students made up stories about their figures going places.
